Welcome.

Join a journey through Twelve Mile Creek to discover one of Niagara’s most precious natural environments.

Move through five video modules to learn why Brook Trout are disappearing from Twelve Mile Creek.

Find out how you can explore and restore a healthy ecosystem and help us to bring the Brookies back to Twelve Mile Creek. We all benefit!

Start Here.

Not too long ago, Brook Trout, a species native to the Niagara region, could be found throughout Upper Twelve Mile Creek - the stream that flows from Fonthill and through Short Hills Provincial Park. Back then it was not unusual for folks to fish for Brook Trout in Twelve Mile Creek.

Today, population growth and climate change have made it difficult for Brook Trout to survive. Sadly, not many of these sensitive members of the trout family are left in Twelve Mile Creek.

But it’s not too late. With your help Twelve Mile Creek can be healthy again and Brook Trout numbers will recover. Find out how together, we can Bring Back the Brookies!
